The HourGlass

Enchanting Tales | Unraveling the Siren's Song | Part I

Are you ready to dive into the mesmerizing world of Cassiopeia and unravel the enchanting tales of mythical creatures that roam its mystical waters? Picture a realm where mermaids and mermen gracefully glide through the azure depths, their songs weaving intricate melodies that beckon you to explore the secrets hidden beneath the waves.

Imagine yourself on a serene beach at twilight, the air tinged with salt and magic. As you gaze out at the horizon, you notice a shimmering figure emerging from the emerald sea. With a gossamer tail and cascading hair that rivals the sunset's hues, the mermaid embodies elegance and allure. Her story is like none other.

Centuries ago, the royalty of the Roman Empire's capital city, Constantinople, held extravagant gatherings where they showcased their wealth through a unique tradition involving an HourGlass. This HourGlass was not just a timekeeping device but a symbol of opulence and generosity. It was used to give their special guests a limited time to pick out treasures from a storage room overflowing with riches - gold, diamonds, silver, and gems sourced from the farthest corners of the world.

Not everyone had noble intentions towards these treasures. There were tales of undesirables who sought to exploit the HourGlass in a sinister way. They believed in a myth that individuals possessing an "hourglass" figure (mermaids/mermen), reminiscent of the shape of the timepiece, held a secret that would lead them to the fabled Roman treasure room. Others believed that the individuals possessing these “hourglass” figures would lead them to vast quantities of gold and other treasures located under a mountain in an unknown location.

However, in reality, this was not the case. Merfolk were never needed to find either the Roman gold or the treasures under the mountain, as this information was already known. Centuries later, in a different part of the world, a mysterious discovery shed light on the HourGlass. This revelation came from the depths of a mountain known in Buddhist cosmology as Mount Sumeru [5] or Mount Meru [6]. This mountain, believed to be the cosmic axis and the center of the universe, was said to hold unimaginable wealth and treasure that far surpassed anything found in the Roman treasure room. The unveiling of this extraordinary HourGlass in such a sacred and mythical place sparked a new wave of fascination and wonder among those who sought to unravel the mysteries of the ancient world.

Since ancient times it was known that children who were born with mermaidism, could potentially develop characteristics that, if left untreated would result in a monstrous, inhuman creature, prone to violence [7], and if diagnosed with this characteristic, required treatment. Unfortunately, the ingredients required to treat children for mermaidism, [8] have been poisoned for centuries or else used incorrectly [9], meaning that these people were never treated correctly for their condition. Instead, they were turned into mermaids or mermen who spent most of their years living in the ocean.

Forms groups based on the Character Cards or others involved (Romans, the Catholic Church, Buddhist theologians, the general public, etc...). Consult with Abraham and Lucifer in order to determine a future course of action. Consider the following issues:

  • rescuing and caring for merfolk

  • why didn't the merfolk lead their enemies to Roman gold?

  • were merfolk necessary to lead others to Mount Sumeru?
