The Emerald Caves

The Emerald Caves, also known as the “ruined mines of the puppet outlaw,”

are still occupied by the Salamander King and his treasure.

Emerald is the gemstone of Cancer

Emerald [1]

Emerald is a gemstone and a variety of the mineral beryl (Be3Al2(SiO3)6) colored green by trace amounts of chromium or sometimes vanadium. Beryl is an important gemstone, colored by small impurities to green (emerald), blue (aquamarine) and pink (morganite).

Traditional alchemical lore ascribes several uses and characteristics to emeralds:

The virtue of the Emerald is to counteract poison. They say that if a venomous animal should look at it, it will become blinded. The gem also acts as a preservative against epilepsy; it cures leprosy, strengthens sight and memory, checks copulation, during which act it will break, if worn at the time on the finger. [1] [2]

Cave Structure / Map

The ruined mines of the puppet outlaw” form a hexagonal crystal system exhibited by the mineral Beryl, from which emerald, aquamarine and morganite are formed. Small impurities allow the mineral Beryl to form the varities of emerald green, aquamarine and pink morganite. All three gemstones can be found within the Salamander's Cave.

Within the caves, six-sided, pink, morganite stars form around sodium atoms. Surrounding the morganite stars are six, evenly spaced emerald structures with six, slightly larger aquamarine structures extending outward from the emerald. [5]

Beware Of: toxic smoke generated by burning emerald

The Caves may contain synthetic emerald as well as real emerald.
